Delegations from Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia briefed on SDG's best government practices
UAE, May 30, 2016- Smart Dubai Government Establishment (SDG) recently received two high-profile delegations: one from the Saudi Arabia Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, represented by the e-Government Program (YESSER) and another representing various Abu Dhabi government entities including the Federal Authority for Government Human Resources and Ministry of Finance headed by Mohammed Ibrahim Al Zarooni, Director of Policies and Programmes at Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA). The delegations were received separately by Mrs. Huda Al Hashimi, Director of the GRPS Department at SDG.
The delegations came to be familiarized with the best government practices in SDG's Government Resources Planning Systems (GRPS) and discuss means of exchanging experiences and prospects of future co-operation. The delegates were given a preview of SDG's strategy to achieve happiness through the provision of world-class smart services and infrastructures.
Mrs. Al Hashimi delivered a presentation to each visiting delegation, explaining in detail about the GRPS, which are an integrated system of shared centralized technological solutions provided by SDG to all Dubai Government’s entities, enabling them to conduct their basic internal operations in various fields, including finance, logistics, human resources, payroll, employment, asset management, suppliers and employees’ self-services in line with Dubai Government-approved financial policies and regulations and HR management laws.
The delegates were also briefed on the bilingual ‘Smart Employee’ app available on all smart devices and tablets. The app is configured specially for Dubai Government employees so that they can access a menu of customized employee self-services such as apply and return from leave, inquire about leave balances, previous leave requests, attendance records, permission requests, access relevant salary information, including payroll, check team hierarchy, and search for and contact other employees.
SDG also explained the Government Information Network (GIN), which is considered the cornerstone of the electronic infrastructure of Dubai Government. The delegations were also briefed on the ‘mJobs’ smart app, which allows for the creation of an account to search for vacancies at any of Dubai government entities, apply for jobs and track their applications in a smart and highly efficient manner.
Through her presentation, Mrs. Al Hashimi highlighted the benefits of the shared GRPS provided by SDG to all government entities, thereby helping reinforce the efficient and optimal use of government resources as well as standardization and automation of government procedures to promote shared benefits and integration. This saves time and effort of government entities, allowing them to look out for more creative opportunities in their fields of specialization and provide decision-makers with accurate reporting tools with the touch of a button, she said.
H.E. Wesam Al Abbas Lootah, CEO of SDG, expressed his pleasure on the visit of the two delegations from Abu Dhabi and Saudi Arabia and welcomed the joint cooperation and exchange of experiences among professionals in the UAE government entities, GCC and the Arab countries. He stated that it was an opportunity to learn about Dubai, which is taking steady and confident steps to become the world’s smartest city by adopting innovation as its approach. This complements the vision of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make Dubai an innovative, smart, and integrated knowledge-based city in the 21st century and hence a genuine reference and source for all countries of the region as they prepare to shift to smart government.
