KIB and Med Cell Medical launch "Salamtek" platform, in collaboration with media partner M2R, to provide integrated healthcare services
Kuwait, 3 March 2025: Kuwait International Bank (KIB), Med Cell Medical, a subsidiary of Mazaya Holding, and M2R Group have introduced 'Salamtek,' an advanced digital one-stop platform that provides users with a comprehensive suite of healthcare services and medical products.
The Bank, along with Med Cell Medical, held a press conference to announce the launch of its pioneering platform. The event was attended by Abdullah Al-Awadi, KIB’s General Manager of Strategy, Mohamed El-Shareef, General Manager of KIB’s Digital Innovation and Data Intelligence Department, Ibrahim Al-Saqabi, Group CEO of Mazaya Holding, Salwa Nabil Malhas, CEO of Med Cell Medical, and Shadi Al-Samad, CEO of M2R.
Commenting on the occasion, KIB’s Al-Awadi said: “The launch of the Salamtek platform is part of KIB’s strategy to enhance digital innovation and provide integrated solutions for our customers across various sectors. Through this initiative, the Bank aims to actively contribute to the advancement of Kuwait’s digital healthcare system and deliver exceptional digital healthcare services that improve quality of life and facilitate access to innovative solutions.”
On his part, KIB’s El-Shareef highlighted that “The Salamtek platform is an extension of KIB’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its digital infrastructure and support the FinTech sector. Our goal is to consistently deliver smart, integrated solutions that seamlessly combine innovation and efficiency to meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers.”
El-Shareef pointed out that the 'Salamtek' platform is designed to simplify access to a wide range of medical services through an innovative smart application. These services include nursing, laboratory tests, radiology, physiotherapy, appointment bookings at specialized medical centers and hospitals, scheduling consultations with doctors across various specialties, and offering telemedicine and video consultations for emergencies. Additionally, the platform enables medication and medical equipment delivery from partner pharmacies upon request, enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services for users.
He added: “The launch of the ‘Salamtek’ platform reflects KIB’s vision of delivering digital solutions that transcend traditional banking services by integrating advanced technology with customers’ everyday needs. As a national institution and trusted financial partner, we embody our slogan, ‘Bank for Life.’ We believe that innovation is the key to shaping a better digital future, and the ‘Salamtek’ platform is a significant step toward achieving this goal. It provides a seamless and integrated experience, focusing on enhancing customer well-being and offering high-quality healthcare services in a simple and efficient way.”
On her part, Malhas stated: “In a pioneering step to enhance the healthcare experience within Kuwait’s medical technology sector, and as part of a strategic partnership between KIB and Med Cell Medical, the Salamtek platform has been launched. This advanced platform integrates cutting-edge technology with healthcare services, acting as a comprehensive digital health hub designed to enhance the experience of both users and medical professionals. Salamtek offers seamless access to a wide range of medical services, from appointment scheduling to online shopping through an e-store that houses the largest collection of medical products—approximately 20,000 items. It also features 35 top pharmacies licensed by the Ministry of Health, 18 medical equipment companies, and various healthcare institutions providing specialized medical support services, including home healthcare.
Malhas further emphasized that the application's strength lies in its network of 170 participating doctors across various medical specialties. These professionals are readily available for online consultations, reducing the need for frequent in-person clinic visits and making follow-ups more convenient for users.
Additionally, the platform enables users to create secure and confidential digital health records, storing their medical test results and imaging in one place. These records can be easily shared with doctors both in Kuwait and abroad, ensuring seamless continuity of care.
She also highlighted the app’s Doctors’ Directory, which provides key details such as clinic working hours, contact information, and patient reviews—helping users make informed healthcare decisions and boosting their confidence in their chosen providers.
Malhas concluded her remarks by emphasizing that the collaboration with KIB underscores the importance of digital transformation across all industries worldwide. She also noted that the Salamtek application is available for download on both Apple and Android platforms.
The press conference also featured a panel discussion organized by KIB and Med Cell Medical, featuring Noura Saleh Al-Askar, a renowned expert in digital technology for advancing healthcare services in Kuwait.
During the discussion, Al-Askar highlighted that 2025 will mark a significant leap in digital transformation and the evolution of medical platforms worldwide, benefiting communities, doctors, and healthcare providers alike. She emphasized that Salamtek is a promising platform in this sector, designed to be an accessible and user-friendly tool for obtaining top-tier medical services under one digital roof.
As a service provider on the platform specializing in nutrition and human genetics, Al-Askar noted that Salamtek streamlines appointment tracking through online consultations, reducing the need for in-person clinic visits. Additionally, the app securely stores treatment plans and provides automated reminders for medications and scheduled treatments, enhancing user convenience and adherence to care plans.
From his side, M2R’s CEO Al-Samad stated: “Joining Salamtek as a media partner and forming an alliance with KIB and Med Cell Medical marks the beginning of a successful journey in transforming the app into one of the leading medical platforms, offering comprehensive healthcare services under one digital roof.”
Al-Samad emphasized that digital transformation is no longer optional, but a necessity for enhancing efficiency and improving healthcare services in Kuwait. He noted that as medical institutions worldwide adopt digital solutions—such as electronic medical records, telemedicine, and healthcare applications that facilitate seamless communication between patients and doctors—embracing technology is essential to advancing the healthcare sector.
The Salamtek app is built on an advanced technological infrastructure and features a user-friendly interface, Al-Samad highlighted, adding that M2R aims to showcase these capabilities through its various media channels, ensuring the platform reaches all segments of society in Kuwait. The company plans to promote Salamtek via its digital screens across all governorates, making it accessible to every household by displaying it in shopping malls, cinemas, and M2R's private transportation networks.
Al-Samad concluded by stating that M2R has developed a comprehensive marketing strategy to establish Salamtek as a leading healthcare platform in Kuwait. The campaign is designed to increase awareness of the app’s services, encourage user registrations, and highlight its unique features.
It is worth noting that KIB continues to advance its 'Banking as a Service' solutions, offering flexible and integrated digital platforms that empower customers to access banking and healthcare services in innovative ways. Additionally, the Bank is actively expanding its partnerships with hospitals and clinics to provide tailored financing solutions. These solutions cover a wide range of medical specialties and are thoughtfully designed to align with the unique lifestyles of its diverse customer base.
