Kuwait, … October 2024: The New Palace of Justice (POJ) project has been named a ‘National Winner’ in the Building Project of the Year – Kuwait category at the highly anticipated 2024 MEED Projects Awards. This award recognizes the project’s groundbreaking design, innovative construction, and its contribution to Kuwait’s urban landscape, spearheaded by leading regional multidisciplinary consultancy firm Pace.

The MEED Projects Awards, in association with Mashreq, are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious honors in the Middle East’s design, construction and engineering sectors. The awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the region, recognizing projects that demonstrate exceptional planning, execution, and innovation.

Breaking ground during the first quarter of 2019, POJ is a collaboration between the Amiri Diwan, Ministry of Justice and Pace, and is part of the New Kuwait Vision 2035 national development plan. With record completion rates achieved through Fast Track technology, the POJ project is set to become the largest judicial building in the Middle East, redefining Kuwait’s judicial infrastructure. The design symbolizes justice through its solid plaza and two cantilevered towers representing the scales of justice. The central golden geode, inspired by Middle Eastern geometry, beautifully merges form and function, further solidifying the project's iconic status.

Expressing his happiness with the prestigious accolade, Pace CEO, Architect Tarek Shuaib said, “We are incredibly proud to see the New Palace of Justice recognized at the 2024 MEED Projects Awards. This project is a true reflection of our commitment to pushing the boundaries of design and architecture. From the outset, our aim was to create a building that not only serves its function but also stands as a symbol of Kuwait’s aspirations for the future. We are honoured to have been part of this journey and look forward to its lasting impact on the country’s judicial and architectural landscape.'

In addition to the POJ project, Pace and the Salhia Real Estate Company’s refurbishment of JW Marriot Kuwait City was awarded in the Refit Project of the Year – Kuwait category at the MEED Awards.

The MEED Awards’ is set to select of the overall MENA winners across more than 12 categories. This evaluation will be conducted by the MEED Editorial team in collaboration with a panel of independent industry experts. The MENA winners, along with the winner of Project of the Year, will be unveiled at the awards gala on November 20, 2024, at the JW Marriott Marina in Dubai, UAE, honouring the region’s most exceptional achievements and innovations.

As Pace continues to expand its projects across the Middle East, these awards serve as a reminder of the Firm’s ongoing dedication to delivering transformative, sustainable, and innovative architectural solutions.
