Empowering students with ICT skills to succeed in different fields
Kuwait City, 19 February 2020: Huawei Technologies Kuwait, a leading global Information and Communication Technology solutions provider, recently signed a memorandum of understanding with Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) to expand and equip the next generation of ICT leaders with the necessary skills to succeed in different fields. The ICT Academy provides students with hands-on training in the latest Huawei technologies and aspiring ICT professionals with comprehensive study materials.
Offering access to advanced ICT practices and industry trends, the students will undergo training in technological developments such as Big Data, cloud computing, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and pervasive technologies, granting them a full range of ICT career certifications.
Through the course, students will gain the necessary expertise to better serve and fill the gaps within the society and fuel growth of key sectors and industries. Huawei has partnered with several companies and universities to build a healthy ICT talent ecosystem with enhanced digital capabilities so the society can benefit from seamless connectivity, improved infrastructure and way of life to ensure a brighter economic future.
Professor Khalid Al-Begain, President of Kuwait College of Science and Technology said, 'This memo supports the university’s strategy in developing the students' capabilities so that they have the ability to contribute to building the national economy.'
Speaking at the event, CEO of Huawei Technologies Kuwait, Mr. Rico Lin said, “Our goal remains to expand the capacity of ICT knowledge and provide certifications that will enable the students to grow and pursue professional careers as ICT leaders of tomorrow. The academy is a crucial platform that elevates talent and furnishes them with the application skills essential in today’s rapidly evolving world. The recent MoU with Kuwait College of Science and Technology (KCST) falls in line with Huawei’s broader commitment to the country’s mission to fuel national ICT competitiveness and contribute to local communities. We are glad to have KCST as our newest strategic partner in helping build a generation of forward-thinking local ICT professionals and making the vision of transforming Kuwait into a digitized country possible as part of the Kuwait vision 2035.”
