Launching a campaign across its digital platforms and organizing various initiatives to raise banking awareness KIB participates in International Fraud Awareness Week
Kuwait, 18 November 2024: Kuwait International Bank (KIB) announced its participation in International Fraud Awareness Week with a comprehensive awareness campaign across all its digital platforms, alongside various initiatives aimed at increasing public awareness of financial fraud risks and prevention methods. This campaign reflects KIB's ongoing commitment to promoting banking awareness, enhancing financial literacy, and offering guidance to help protect customers from fraudulent activities. Additionally, it marks KIB's fourth consecutive year supporting the 'Let’s Be Aware' (Diraya) campaign, an initiative launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) in collaboration with local banks.
Commenting on the occasion, Basil Al-Suwaidan, General Manager of the Information Security, Privacy and Anti-Fraud Department, said: 'With the continuous advancements in the digital landscape and the growing sophistication of fraud attacks, protecting our customers' data is a top priority. Our involvement in International Fraud Awareness Week is part of our commitment to raising awareness and educating customers on the importance of financial security, helping them avoid falling victim to various types of fraud, and protecting their financial and personal assets.'
Al-Suwaidan also emphasized the critical role of customer awareness in protecting personal and banking data through adherence to best practices and banking procedures. He noted that KIB continuously seeks to explore innovative strategies and implement robust action plans to mitigate fraud risks and ensure a secure banking environment for its customers.
Al-Suwaidan noted that fraud can take various forms, including phishing, identity theft, and cyber fraud. He shared several recommendations for customers, such as immediately reporting any suspected breach or fraud, or any unusual or suspicious activity on bank accounts or debit and credit cards, by contacting the customer service center at 1866866. He also advised customers to avoid responding to suspicious emails or text messages or clicking on any links they may contain, suggesting instead that they forward any suspicious emails to phishing@kib.com.kw.
He also pointed out the importance of activating notifications to monitor the details of each banking transaction and ensure its accuracy and security, especially when making payments through electronic and digital channels. Furthermore, he advised regularly checking account and credit card transactions and frequently updating PINs and passwords.
It is worth noting that KIB is dedicated to its leading role in educating the community on various aspects of the banking sector, a cornerstone of its comprehensive social responsibility program. The Bank is committed to launching initiatives that broadly promote financial literacy and actively participating in numerous events and campaigns, helping customers develop stronger financial management skills and empowering them to make informed financial decisions.
