Kuwait, 11 November 2023: Kuwait International Bank (KIB) announced its participation in the annual International Fraud Awareness Week, running an informational anti-fraud awareness campaign on its social media platforms, as well as TV channels and radio stations. Committed to safeguarding the financial well-being of its customers, the campaign comes as part of KIB’s ongoing support to the “Let’s Be Aware” (Diraya) financial awareness campaign, which was launched by the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and the Kuwait Banking Association (KBA) in cooperation with local banks.

Commenting on the Bank’s initiative, Basil Al-Suwaidan, General Manager of the Information Security, Privacy and Anti-Fraud Department, said: “In a digital age where financial security is paramount, KIB is taking proactive steps to raise awareness about the importance of fraud prevention and empower its customers and the community to protect their financial assets. The campaign aims at advancing financial literacy about the various fraud risks present in today's interconnected world.”

Al-Suwaidan added: “KIB recognizes that fraud can take many forms, from phishing scams to identity theft and online payment fraud. By participating in this campaign, the Bank seeks to arm its customers with the knowledge and tools to safeguard their financial assets. KIB will engage its social media community through sharing relevant information and resources, encouraging its customers and the general public to actively participate in the campaign, creating a dynamic and collaborative environment for learning and awareness.”

Putting a spotlight on the responsibility of customers in safeguarding their assets and data, he asserted the significance of practicing secure online banking habits to ensure the safety of personal and financial information. Additionally, he recommended that individuals follow the Bank's social media accounts and routinely review website updates to stay informed about the precautionary guidelines shared through these platforms.

KIB constantly strives to educate, inform, and empower its customers in order to prevent any fraud instances. It advises against replying to any suspicious emails or text messages that request sharing any bank details or personal information, including clicking on any embedded links within them.
