KIB takes Part in the Second National Urban Forum for the State of Kuwait
Kuwait, 22 October 2023: Kuwait International Bank (KIB) recently participated in the Second National Urban Forum for the State of Kuwait, a collaborative effort between UN-Habitat and the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development. The forum, which took place at the Kuwaiti Graduates Society, was held under the theme “The Road of Kuwait Cities 2035: Achievements and Challenges.” The Bank’s participation falls in line with its commitment to playing a key role in the sustainable development of the country and its position in the world economy.
Commenting on the Bank’s participation, Nawaf Najia, Executive Manager of the Corporate Communications Unit at KIB, said: “At KIB, we are always keen to take part in vital events organized in Kuwait, especially those that help highlight the scope of our comprehensive social responsibility program and further embed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) as a core pillar of our strategy. To this end, we are delighted to have had the opportunity to participate in the Second National Urban Forum, which allowed us to learn more about the emerging urban challenges facing Kuwait and its ambitious Vision 2035.”
He added: “In light of the significant urban population growth combined with the ever-changing demographic needs, the forum served as a great platform to bring together key stakeholders to promote best practices in urban development towards creating thriving, resilient cities. We enjoyed being part of the conversation and look forward to taking part in similar events in the future.”
The Second National Urban Forum aimed to create a shared understanding of urban challenges and opportunities by hosting a series of discussions and conferences focused on the theme of building resilient cities. Among its key highlights, the forum provided a comprehensive review of national urban policies and their effectiveness in prompting sustainable development. It also featured discussions that revolved around strategies to enhance urban resilience to climate change and ensure the inclusivity of urban development. More importantly, it encouraged collaboration between governments, the private sector, civil society, and international organizations to achieve sustainable urban development.
It is worth noting that KIB spares no effort to reinforce its leading position as a proactive advocate of sustainable development in Kuwait. Accordingly, the Bank strives to contribute to the progress and economic growth of the nation, in line with its endeavors to integrate environmental, social, and governance strategies into its policies and decisions.
