Google Cloud Strengthens Alliance with the Government of Kuwait Through New Strategic Initiatives

Kuwait City, Kuwait, May 24, 2023 - Google Cloud previously announced its intent to open a new cloud region and a country office in Kuwait as part of its strategic alliance with the government that was activated at the beginning of this year. The new cloud region will meet broad demand for cloud services in the country, and will support public sector organizations, businesses, and startups in their digital transformation journeys, which will contribute to realizing Kuwait’s ambition to become a data-driven economy.
 
During Google Cloud’s leadership visit to Kuwait, the President of Google Cloud Adaire Fox-Martin and senior leaders of her Go to Market organization met with HH Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait, HH Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, the Prime Minister, and the leaders of His Government, to further solidify the strategic alliance that the company previously announced with the Government of Kuwait. 
 
The alliance strives to accelerate the country's digital transformation through the adoption of Google Cloud technologies, supported by a planned new Google Cloud region in Kuwait. The strategic meeting reiterated Google Cloud’s commitment as a key enabler in propelling Kuwait’s digital economy and supporter of government missions to enhance the quality of services.
 
On the alliance, Adaire Fox-Martin said: “We are pleased to join today with Kuwait’s top leaders, who are taking the country into its next phase of growth and transformation. Google Cloud works with government organizations around the world to help them achieve their digital transformation roadmaps, and our collaboration with the Government of Kuwait will ensure that the latest technology, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, helps shape the country’s digital future and the future of its people.” 
 
Google Cloud also announced the launch of the National Skilling Program in partnership with the government of Kuwait. The program aims to train 3,000 people from government organizations and higher education institutions in data analytics, machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and security solutions in the first year of its inception.
 
The announcement was revealed at the Build & Transform with Google Cloud event held as part of Google Cloud’s leadership visit to Kuwait, where Sheikh Dr.Meshaal Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah led the opening remarks of the event,  in the presence of a group of the country’s top leadership and decision makers from the business community.
 
In line with Kuwait Vision 2035, which strives to create a sustainable, diversified economy, the National Skilling Program is established to build the foundational learning skills required to drive cloud adoption and support the implementation of innovative initiatives that will pave the way for the country’s digital economy. 
 
His Excellency Mr. Fahad Ali Zaied Al-Shuala, Minister of State For Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Communications Affairs, said: “We envision a new Kuwait that develops as a business and trade hub regionally and internationally, and are aligned on the importance of deploying the latest cutting edge technology to turn this vision into reality. Google Cloud has been selected as the partner of choice for the Government of Kuwait to propel the country into its next phase of growth and development, underpinning the power of cloud computing and the abundance of opportunities it can bring.”
 
Google Cloud’s leadership team also met with a series of strategic customers from Kuwait’s leading public sector organizations. Areas of collaboration discussed included leveraging cloud technologies, AI and machine learning, and leading sustainability solutions to accelerate digital transformation journeys that will inturn drive further growth to the economy of Kuwait.
 
According to Access Partnership research, commissioned by Google Cloud, Kuwait has an opportunity to leverage higher connectivity to drive economic prosperity, and in a hypothetical scenario in which all entities in respective sectors adopt new cloud applications, the combined annual economic impact could bring to Kuwait USD 29.8 billion by 2030.
