PACI modernizes security and integrated application delivery infrastructure to better serve citizens

Kuwait, April 11, 2017 –The Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI) today revealed how it is improving services for Kuwaiti citizens using highly secure and application-centric infrastructure.

PACI, which issues civil identity cards and delivers a range of e-government services – including Public Key Infrastructure and Geographic Information Systems -- has teamed up with global security and application delivery experts F5 Networks to adapt to fast-paced development across the State of Kuwait and its increasingly connected citizenry.

“Kuwait is growing fast and PACI’s infrastructure is relied upon by a large number of government entities, so we need to ensure that we are operating on the absolute cutting-edge when it comes to the availability, scalability and security of our services,” said Musaed Al-Asousi General Director, PACI.

“Our data cannot be compromised and we must be available 24/7. F5 helps ensure PACI’s infrastructure delivers a world-class service that improves the lives of citizens and gives us accurate data to help shape critical decision-making. .This is particularly true when it comes to strengthening our cyber-security capabilities to withstand the rise of application-layer attacks in the region.”

PACI is responsible for running a system to register and keep track of Kuwait's population and related societal variables. The challenge is intensifying as the country continues to develop and increase its population with expatriates. PACI uses the information to support decision makers to make informed decisions to support national-level planning, and to provide a trusted, and reliable data source for different government, and private organizations.

PACI is currently running F5® BIG-IP® Local Traffic Manager™ (LTM) to simplify, automate, and customize application delivery, and F5®BIG-IP® Global Traffic Manager™ (GTM) to ensure availability as well as scale and secure DNS infrastructure during high query volumes and DDoS attacks. In addition, BIG-IP® Application Security Manager™ (ASM) , a comprehensive web application firewall (WAF), protects apps and data from known and unknown threats, defends against bots that bypass standard protections, and virtually patches app vulnerabilities.

“PACI is running a hugely impressive and important system and is pioneering the process of population registration.. F5 is delighted to support PACI’s continued evolution and innovation as they adapt exciting growth across the State of Kuwait,” said  Taj El Khayat, Gulf, Levant & North Africa Director, F5 Networks.
