Kuwait City, Kuwait –29 November 2019:    Following the first cultural festival hosted by Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre in July, the second wave witnessed the masterworks by traditional Korean visual artist Ms. Lee Hyan. Held in collaboration with the Korean Embassy in Kuwait, the eventful week displayed her unique works on the country’s culture and significant attributes during an art exhibition entitled 'The Beauty of Korea'.

H.E South Korean Ambassador to the country, Hong Youngki opened the exhibition which took place on 18 November and continued until 23 November 2019. The second phase of the cultural festival comes as part of this year’s grand celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Korea and the State of Kuwait.

The art exhibition by Ms. Lee Hyan showcased her paintings and ceramic pieces at the Transportation and Robotics Hall, Block C in Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre. Additionally, Ms. Lee Hyan drew in the crowd by bringing to life the authenticity and traditions of Korea on a canvas, by sketching live in front of the visitors during the opening.

The first week-long event included an exhibition on Korea’s traditional costumes, a make-up workshop with Korean cosmetics and hair stations, a jewellery workshop followed by a preliminary musical and dance contest, and a traditional folk dance to narrate the country’s heritage.

Celebrating four decades of rich history and cross- cultural exchanges between the two countries, Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre maintains its key role as an enabler of bilateral relations creating deeper cooperation and a lasting friendship.

Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre is one the many projects developed by the Amiri Diwan to facilitate the exchange of knowledge and promote critical, creative, and interpretive thinking within Kuwaiti society through world-class exhibitions and educational public programmes.
