Visitors to explore a wide range of diverse learning experiences 

Kuwait City, Kuwait – 16 October 2018:   The Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre is pleased to announce its ‘Back to School, Back in Time’ weekend between 18-20 October 2018, a holistic educational experience .  The ‘weekend special’ falls under the Centre’s Academy, an umbrella educational initiative that presents transformational learning experiences for different audiences in Kuwait. 

The programs combine Culture, History, Science and Art, aiming to drive curiosity and interest, in line with the Academy’s mission of cultivating an atmosphere of exploration, fresh thinking, collaboration, and sharing of innovative discoveries that are revolutionizing our world. 

‘Back to School’participants will learn about the ‘origin of birds’ and diverse ecosystems in Southeast Asia, beginning with the heights of the Rainforest canopies and end in the depths of the coral reefs. Throughout the tour, visitors will enjoy life-size replicas and engaging exhibits to give each little adventurer the chance to view amazing landscapes. 

Curious visitors will also enter the realm of ‘The Volcano’ through an interactive tour of the Centre’s ‘Our Earth’ gallery, where they will be acquainted with its dynamic systems, mechanism of plate tectonics and geo-environmental hazards such as  earthquakes and global warming.

Technology enthusiasts will have the opportunity to tour into the world of Robotics, pick up on the technological history of how simple automated mechanical machines evolved into human-like robots with the ability to think on their own. 

Science lovers will get new insights on scientific studies and the brilliance of ‘mind control’, understanding how the most important organ in the human body works – the brain. They will also hear about the impact of sleep on brain development, learning, and physical performance.The interactive tour through the“Planetary Science” gallery will bring to light the incredible workings of the universe and shed light on the latest discoveries in particle physics.  

Audience with refined taste in Arts can participate in ‘Golden Age’, a tour serving as an introduction and celebration of some aspects of Arabic-Islamic history and science, followed by a retrospective exhibition namely ‘AWJ ‘ by Nja Mahdaoui, a prominent figure of art and Arabic calligraphy. Continuing on the path to creative enlightenment, ‘The Graphic & Typographic Work of Tarek Atrissi’ will also be showcasing some of the most interesting projects designed by Tarek Atrissi Design, in the fields of Branding, Typeface Design, Poster Design, and other experimental typographic and graphic work. 

‘Back to School’ is an open invitation to all age groups, with a particular focus on 10-14 year olds, parents, teachers and educators. It will run from 3PM till 10PM on Thursday and Friday and between 9AM-7 PM on Saturday. 

The Sheikh Abdullah Al Salem Cultural Centre was developed by the Office of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait with the vision of delivering world-class exhibitions and public educational programmes to the people of Kuwait. It is working on facilitating the exchange of knowledge and the development of critical, creative, and interpretive thinking skills.
